How we handle your data.

Effective 1 January 2026 · Last updated May 2026

1. Who we are

LNC Photography (also operating as Levels & Curves Photography) is a Chennai-based wedding and portrait photography studio. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect personal data when you visit our website, send us an inquiry, or engage us for a photography or videography shoot.

We comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) of India and the Information Technology Act, 2000. If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with stricter rules, those laws may give you additional rights — exercising any of them works the same way: write to us.

2. What information we collect

We collect only what we need to do our job well and respond to you. Specifically:

  • Inquiry data — your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, event date, event location, type of shoot, and the details you share in the message field of our inquiry form.
  • Booking and contract data — billing address, GSTIN if applicable, signed contract, advance and payment records.
  • Photographic and video content — the photographs and videos we capture during your shoot, which we deliver to you and which our team uses for editing, archival, and (where you consent) portfolio purposes.
  • Website usage data — basic information your browser sends automatically (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referrer). Used in aggregate to understand how the site performs.

We do not collect financial information beyond the payment receipts you share with us; we do not process card or UPI transactions on this website. All payments are made directly through your bank, UPI app, or via invoices we send separately.

3. How we use your information

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

  • To respond to inquiries and send you quotations and contracts.
  • To plan, schedule, and execute the photography or video shoot you have engaged us for.
  • To deliver edited photos and videos via private galleries, USB drives, or printed albums.
  • To send you delivery updates, payment reminders, and album proofs.
  • To improve our work — keeping records of past sessions to learn what worked and what did not.
  • To comply with legal obligations including tax records and contract law.

We will never use your information to send unsolicited marketing emails or sell it to a third party. We do not have a sales team. We do not run paid advertising campaigns that retarget you.

4. Use of your photographs

This is the section most photography clients want to read. Here is how we approach the photographs we take of you:

  • Ownership. Copyright in the photographs and videos remains with LNC Photography (this is standard in photography contracts globally). You receive a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use your photographs for personal purposes — printing, sharing, albums, social media.
  • Portfolio and social media use. We may use a selection of your photographs on our website, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other studio marketing — only if you give us permission. Permission is asked for explicitly during the contract, and you can revoke it at any time in writing.
  • Industry submissions. Some of our work is submitted to wedding publications and competitions (WedMeGood, Wedding Sutra, ELLE Weddings). We will check with you before any submission.
  • Removing your photos from public use. If at any point you want photographs of yourself or your family taken down from our portfolio, social channels, or third-party publications, email us. We will action it within seven business days for our own properties and reach out to third parties on your behalf.
  • Family members. Your booking contract permits us to photograph guests at your event. We use these photographs only with your consent. If a family member specifically requests not to be photographed or featured, please flag this to us in advance.

5. Who we share your information with

We share your data only with the people and services who help us deliver our work:

  • Our team — photographers, cinematographers, editors, and album designers within LNC Photography. They are bound by confidentiality.
  • Album printers — we send finished album files to print partners in India. They receive only the photos required for production.
  • Cloud and storage providers — for backup, archival, and delivery galleries. These are reputable providers (Google, Amazon, Pixieset and similar) with their own privacy frameworks.
  • Payment processors and accountants — invoice records shared as needed for GST filing and tax compliance.

We will not share, sell, or rent your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes. If any third party requests your data outside of these necessary operations, we will refuse unless ordered by a competent legal authority.

6. Cookies and website analytics

Our website is currently a marketing site without login functionality and uses minimal cookies. The cookies we do use are either strictly necessary (for the website to function) or aggregate analytics (Vercel Analytics or similar) that help us understand which pages are read most.

We do not use behavioural advertising trackers. We do not run Meta Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, or similar profiling cookies. You can block cookies entirely in your browser settings without breaking any essential feature on this site.

7. How long we keep your data

  • Inquiry messages that did not lead to a booking: retained for 12 months, then deleted unless you ask us to keep them.
  • Booking and contract records: retained for 7 years as required by Indian tax law (Income Tax Act, 1961).
  • Photographs and videos: original raw files retained for 24 months post-delivery. Edited high-resolution files retained indefinitely as part of our archive, unless you ask us to delete them.
  • Website analytics: aggregated and anonymised data retained for 24 months.

8. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act and as a matter of policy, you have the following rights:

  • Right to access — ask us what personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to correction — ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
  • Right to erasure — ask us to delete your personal data. (Some contractual and tax records cannot be deleted before their retention period ends.)
  • Right to withdraw consent — for portfolio and social media use specifically, you can revoke consent at any time.
  • Right to grievance redressal — if you are not satisfied with our response to any of the above, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India under the DPDP Act.

To exercise any of these rights, email abbishek@lncphotography.in with the subject line “Privacy request”. We respond within seven business days.

9. Children and minors

We photograph children at weddings, baby showers, and family sessions. Whenever a session involves a minor (under 18), we rely on the consent of a parent or legal guardian — both for the photography itself and for any portfolio or social media use afterwards. Parents and guardians can withdraw consent at any time, in which case we will remove the photographs from public use as described in section 4.

10. Third-party services we use

The following third-party services may process your data on our behalf. Each maintains its own privacy policy:

  • Vercel — website hosting and analytics
  • Sanity.io — content management system for our portfolio
  • Resend — email delivery for inquiry responses and quotations
  • Google Workspace — email, document storage, calendar
  • Pixieset / Pic-Time — private client galleries
  • WhatsApp Business — messaging and quick contact
  • Razorpay / UPI — when used for invoice payments

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated to active clients via email. If you are unsure whether the version you are reading reflects the latest changes, check the date below the page title.
